Google Chrome is a badly designed, dangerous and buggy operating system that pushes software developers further a way from their own hardware and up into the application-layer walled garden that Google has created with its languages, libraries, and services. it ignores decades of best practices derived from solid research and development efforts, and, via Google's strong influence over the IETF and w3c, it threatens to gut the internet at its base level.

just as those of use who care about such things would tell our friends to stop using Microsoft Office and use Libreoffice instead, so we should be telling our friends to stop using Google products, services, and languages and libraries,and use alternatives. Google is 21st century Microsoft. in my view developers will be the worst here because they follow the herd, are conservative, and tend not to think outside the frameworks they know.

@walruslifestyle developing in Firefox is almost the same as in chrome, most of the same tools are available, as long as you're not using any proprietary APIs.

@faras @walruslifestyle oh, maybe one day Firefox will learn to mark source maps, emulate touches properly and will get a decent profiler. I ❤️ FF and use it personally but developing with it is pain sometimes.

@charlag @faras
sure, just as it's easier to do Excel-like things in Excel than in non-Excel spreadsheets, but only because people have been raised on Excel (by design), and therefore are not practiced in doing things in non-Excel ways. you see the self-feeding cycle right?

@walruslifestyle @faras I do, but I've never developed in Chrome and I started in Firefox actually and still try to do most dev with it but I'm doing a lot of mobile and have no choice in the case (same with Safari which I utterly hate)
